India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a marvel for the world, prime minister Narendra Modi told Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath on his podcast.
“When people from around the world visit India, they ask me how UPI works. I tell them to go to any vendor, to see how fast payments work. India has presented an example for the world in the fintech space on how technology can be democratised,” PM Modi said.
He also said if the youth of the country has one mobile phone in his pocket, he needs nothing else. “The youth of this country will remember that once, there was a technology-driven government which enabled a whole set of opportunities for me with just a phone.”
PM Modi made his podcast debut with Kamath’s podcast, People by WTF. “This is the first time I am part of a podcast. The world of podcasts is new to me,” he said.
