Prime minister Narendra Modi made his podcast debut on Friday, joining Nikhil Kamath, cofounder of stock brokerage firm Zerodha and talked about entrepreneurship, global Indian talent, and nation-building.

During the conversation, Modi highlighted the significance of Indian entrepreneurs working abroad, calling them “national ambassadors.” He emphasised that leveraging their expertise and connections can strengthen India’s global standing.

“One of the primary objectives of NITI Aayog is to combine the strengths of the global Indian community,” Modi said, adding that Indian-origin individuals worldwide are known for their low crime rates, high education levels, and respect for the law. “Their cumulative efforts are a key reason behind India’s growing global profile,” he remarked.

Kamath noted the shift in the aspirations of Indian youth, observing that while earlier generations sought opportunities abroad, today’s young entrepreneurs are increasingly focused on building businesses within India. “The narrative has shifted from working for global giants like Microsoft to creating homegrown enterprises,” Kamath said.
