YouTube is reportedly testing a new ‘Play Something’ button which will play a video picked by the platform for users. A new report by 9to5Google revealed that clicking a floating button starts a YouTube Shorts clip.

The button shows up just above the bottom bar of the app and when it is clicked on picks a video to play.

The platform usually experiments on new updates with YouTube Shorts before releasing it widely for all types of regular content so it is expected that the button will not be limited to YouTube Shorts.

The button has been in testing for more than a year. An old report from the outlet had also stated that YouTube had also looked into a separate banner which performed the same function. But the change to the design makes it more accessible.

The Google-owned video sharing platform has recently released a bunch of AI features including an auto dubbing and suggestions for subtitles and thumbnails while also introducing additional features to their Miniplayer.
