Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to the incident, stating that the explosion was “caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck,” adding that it was “unrelated to the vehicle itself.” Musk noted that the entire Tesla senior team was investigating the blast, calling it “something we’ve never seen before.”
US President Joe Biden acknowledged that authorities were looking into any potential link between the Las Vegas blast and a deadly attack earlier that day in New Orleans, where a truck rammed a crowd, killing at least 15 people. However, Biden clarified that no connection had been established.
FBI agent Jeremy Schwartz described the Las Vegas explosion as “an isolated incident,” stressing that authorities did not believe it was part of a broader plot.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the explosion. US media reports, citing unnamed sources, have suggested the possibility of a terror-related motive. Authorities have also indicated that the suspect involved in the New Orleans attack may have been inspired by the Islamic State group, although no such links have been found in the Las Vegas case.McMahill remarked, “It’s a Tesla truck, and we know Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump tower. So there are obviously things to be concerned about, and we continue to look into it.” Musk, who supported Trump in the November election and was named to head a commission to trim government spending, stated he would share more details as they become available.
