Telecom minister says no to satellite spectrum allocation pitch by Jio & Airtel

Elon Musk, through his satellite company Starlink, has expressed a commitment to serving India. His remarks follow Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s announcement that India will allocate spectrum for satellite services administratively, not through auctions. Earlier, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel had pitched for satellite spectrum auctions to ensure fair competition. Musk, however, criticised the move, calling the auction of satellite spectrum ‘unprecedented.’
