Ola Electric, a leading name in India’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape, has announced its most ambitious plan yet: the establishment of 4,000 stores nationwide by 25th December 2024. This includes the addition of over 3,200 outlets to its existing 800-store network, ensuring a presence in every Indian city, town, and rural area. This massive expansion will position Ola Electric as the largest EV distributor in the country.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, shared the news through a tweet: “Inaugurating record-breaking 4,000 Ola Electric stores on Christmas 25th December! Savings Wala Scooter will now be accessible to every city, town and tehsil! Come be a part of the electric revolution at a store near you.” This bold move reflects Ola’s commitment to making EVs accessible to all.

Following the announcement, Ola Electric’s shares surged by 6.85% to Rs 93.41 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), showcasing robust market confidence in the company’s growth trajectory.

Expanding Customer Touchpoints

The new outlets will feature co-located service facilities to enhance customer support and after-sales service. This development aligns with Ola Electric’s direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, a key factor in its sustained market leadership. Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Aggarwal remarked, “While India is swiftly moving towards electric mobility, Ola Electric’s massive network expansion will be a pivotal moment in the country’s journey towards #EndICEAge. With our wide D2C network and the touchpoints under our Network Partner Program, we will cover the entire country beyond tier-I and tier-2 cities.”

Diverse Scooter Range Unveiled

To complement its network expansion, Ola Electric has introduced a range of new scooters: the Ola Gig, Gig+, S1 Z, and S1 Z+. These models, priced from Rs 39,999, are designed to meet the diverse needs of urban, semi-urban, and rural users. The scooters boast features such as durable designs, removable batteries, and flexible options for users, furthering the company’s mission to democratise electric mobility. Deliveries for these scooters will commence in April and May 2025, with bookings currently open for Rs 499.

Supporting the EV Ecosystem

Ola Electric has launched several initiatives to accelerate EV adoption, particularly in underserved regions:

  • #HyperService Initiative: Ensures complete service coverage, including remote areas, enhancing reliability for customers.
  • Network Partner Program: Aims to onboard 10,000 partners for sales and service by the end of 2025, expanding operational reach.
  • EV Service Training Program: Plans to train one lakh mechanics nationwide, equipping them with specialised EV service skills.

These initiatives underline Ola’s holistic approach to fostering an inclusive and robust EV ecosystem in India.

Ola Electric has consistently challenged traditional norms in the two-wheeler market. Despite having a distribution network only one-fifth the size of conventional manufacturers, the company has managed to maintain its leadership through its D2C model, competitive pricing, and innovative product lineup. Its latest expansion builds on its success, reflecting a strategic push to solidify its dominance in the growing EV market.

With this expansion and product innovation, Ola Electric is set to revolutionise the Indian EV market. Its focus on accessibility, coupled with a strong service network, positions it as a key player in India’s transition towards sustainable transportation.
