This will include Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Pakistan, in addition to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The ASEAN sales leadership team will report to Salesforce India managing director, Arun Kumar Parameswaran, for sales, who will continue to report to Bhattacharya.
Bhattacharya will continue to be based in India.
“We see the entire region as a growth region, and we are trying to ensure that we are able to come together, because there are a lot of synergies in the nations in this particular area,” Bhattacharya told ET.
She added that this operating unit coming together will help Salesforce innovate for the region as it will account for a sizeable market and bring more attention and investment to the region.

Noting the diversity and varying opportunities and maturity levels across ASEAN markets, Bhattacharya said that the aim is to replicate the kind of growth Salesforce has seen in India elsewhere, adding that the company has set goals for fast growth in this larger unit.Salesforce India hit the $1 billion revenue milestone in the financial year 2023-24, growing 36% year-on-year.
“We feel that many of the many of the features that we need for products in India would be replicable in those countries. Many of the best practices that we see in those countries could be applicable to us as well,” she added. “Therefore, bringing it together as one operating unit would be a matter of collaboration and strength going forward.”
Salesforce has about 1,000 employees in the ASEAN countries and over 13,000 in India.
While Salesforce has local entities in countries like Thailand and Indonesia, it is also considering setting up further entities and strategising greater representation in the region. For instance, a new entity is expected to be set up in the Philippines in the next six to nine months, Bhattacharya said.
“When you are actually looking at expanding, you need a critical mass, and for companies like us, you need certain things like data localisation in that country, or features that are country-specific,” she explained. “That is difficult for headquarters to understand unless you can reflect it properly, and I’m hoping that my experience in building India can be utilised in building these other countries as well.”
Salesforce has grown its presence in ASEAN over the last few years establishing and supporting growing teams while transforming customers in emerging markets such as Thailand and Indonesia, the company said.
It has offices in Singapore since 2004, Thailand since 2021, and Indonesia since 2023. It has had a presence in India for over a decade.
The company has been focusing on taking its flagship autonomous AI agent platform Agentforce to the market, which it says can carry out actions without human intervention, such as fixing product defects, scheduling issues, exchange issues, and more.
