In his new role, Shah will lead Pixel’s sales and expansion strategies across India. Prior to this he served as the head of consumer sales for Apple in India.
In a LinkedIn post on November 27, Shah wrote, “To everyone who has asked me in the last few weeks, why ‘switch’ from Apple? This is not a switch. This is a continuation of the mission of putting the world’s best technology in the hands of fellow countrymen and women.”
“It’s an honour to be part of a company that’s at the forefront of innovation, and I’m particularly thrilled to be working on a product that has the potential to put the magic and power of AI in the pockets of millions of people across my beloved country,” he said. “Pixel is not just another device. It’s the platform designed to put the immense power and possibilities of AI in everyone’s pocket.”
Earlier this year, Google began shipping locally produced Pixel smartphones from its India-based manufacturing lines. In October 2023, Rick Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president, announced the company’s collaboration with international and domestic partners to assemble Pixel devices within the country.
“This is an early step towards expanding the production here to meet the local demand for Pixel devices,” Osterloh said at the time.
