Lexar launches SL500 portable SSD in India with Apple devices compatibility

Lexar on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) launched the SL500 portable SSD in the Indian market which the company claims as one of the world’s thinnest external SSDs catering to high storage needs of filmmakers, photographers, content creators and gamers.
The Lexar’s SL500 claims 4.8mm thick and features an aluminum unibody design. It has a read speeds of up to 2000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1800 MB/s using USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 technology.
The SL500 works with Apple devices as well with ProRes 4K video transfer at up to 60 frames per second directly to the SL500 with the Lexar magnetic kit.
Simulteanously, the SL500 is compatible with Windows PCs, Macs, Android smartphones, gaming consoles, and cameras. It also features 256-bit AES encryption through Lexar DataShield software for security.

The Lexar SL500 portable SSD sells at retail and e-commerce platforms, starting from 1 TB and up to 4 TB for ₹13,000 and ₹25,000, respectively.
