The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the Indian Army’s Military College of Telecommunication Engineering have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a centre of excellence at the latter’s premises, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said.

The IT ministry said the centre of excellence (CoE) will work to “accelerate research and development in cutting-edge technologies tailored for military applications. “

Apart from work on R&D in technologies for military applications, the CoE will address critical military problem definitions and operational challenges, develop and test field-ready prototypes in identified technology verticals, and organise workshops and training to enhance skill development, the IT ministry said.

The C-DAC is a research and development institution established under the IT ministry in 1988. Its primary purpose is to conduct R&D in IT, electronics and other associated areas.
