The AWS Security Incident Response aims to centralise all incident-related communications and reduce the time to recover from cyber attack from hours to minutes.
The service is designed to help security teams combat account takeovers, breaches, ransomware attacks and other corporate intrusions, Hart Rossman, vice president of global services security at AWS, said, as per a report from TechCrunch.
According to a survey by Kaseya, a global provider of AI-powered cybersecurity and IT management software, three out of five organisations have an incident response (IR) plan in place but a follow-through is needed. Only 37% of those surveyed do periodic drills to ensure the efficacy of their plan.
The result of below-par incident response is expensive. The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2027, cyberattacks will cost the world more than $23 trillion, up from about $8.4 trillion in 2022, TechCrunch reported.
In India alone, cyberattack cases could reach 1 trillion annually by 2033, and reaching 17 trillion attacks by 2047, as per ET’s report in October.

This is where such services play a central role. “AWS Security Incident Response works with all AWS detection and response services, by continuously identifying and prioritizing security issues,” Rossman told TechCrunch.Customers can access AWS Security Incident Response via the AWS management console and service-specific APIs.
