Apple is phasing out some iPhone models in the European Union, including the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus smartphones, possibly in preparation for a new regulation that requires phones to have a USB-C port for wired charging, reported tech outlet MacRumors.

Some models of the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus, which have a Lightning port, were no longer available on Apple’s online store in Switzerland, per the outlet.

This could soon spread to other retail locations in countries across the EU.

However, Apple authorised resellers in the region will not have to dispose of their stock and can keep selling iPhones for as long as they have them, according to the report.

Apart from this removal of products, Apple makes older models of its smartphones obsolete and stops selling them to buyers.

India has also considered having Apple switch to a universal charging port on its devices in the country, but the iPhone-maker had warned this could affect local production numbers.
