Ecommerce marketplace Amazon India will launch a 15-minute delivery service – marking its foray into the rapidly growing quick commerce sector – from Bengaluru later this month, the company’s senior vice president for India and emerging markets Amit Agarwal told ET in an interaction.

“Our goal remains the same, which is that we want to offer the largest selection of products to the largest customer base at the fastest speeds…we do recognise that our urban customer base is keen on getting a small selection of products, mostly everyday essentials, delivered faster. Starting December, we’re going to start that (15-minute) service in Bengaluru,” he said.

ET first reported in August about Amazon’s quick delivery plan in and subsequently wrote last month that it had advanced the timelines to launch it in December.

This will be first for Amazon to launch a 15-minute delivery service in any market globally. Agarwal, who kept the name still under wraps, said the firm will sell 1,000-2,000 products ready to be delivered in 15 minutes in Bengaluru and then scale it to other cities.
