The initiative, the online retailers said, aimed to empower about 4,000 students in grades 5-12 from low-income families with hands-on learning in robotics, AI, and 3D printing by 2025.
The Makerspace will offer various programs for different skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Students can learn, experiment, and collaborate with peers under the guidance of mentors, the company said during the inauguration of the centre in Malleswaram, organised in collaboration with The Innovation Story as knowledge partner.
āFor beginners, there are short, 3-4 hour programs to learn basic robotics and coding. For those who want to learn more, there are longer, 6-hour programs,ā Amazon said in a press statement, adding that students can explore advanced topics that delve deeper into robotics, programming, prototyping, and design over the course of two-day or month-long courses.
The facility also has special areas where students can build, design, and test their robots.
The initiative will provide mentors and volunteers to guide students in developing crucial skills like coding, problem-solving, and design thinking. āThis unique blend of technology, mentorship, and hands-on experience empowers students to become future-ready innovators,ā Amazon added.

India Lead for the Amazon Future Engineer Program, Akshay Kashyap, said, āThis state-of-the-art facility will provide thousands of young minds with the tools, knowledge, and mentorship they need to become future innovators.ā He added that these services will inspire more students to pursue STEM courses. āThis is just the beginning of our commitment to fostering digital equity and creating opportunities for all.āSo far, the company has partnered with 11 non-profit organisations to introduce computer science education to over 17,000 schools, impacting over 2.9 million students and training more than 16,000 teachers across the country. The Makerspace is part of Amazonās larger project, the Amazon Future Engineer Programme.
