Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation said on Friday it had started a pre-trial investigation on its own initiative into cyber attacks targeting the financial sector.
The matter is currently being investigated as an offence of aggravated interference with telecommunications, the bureau said in a statement without providing further detail.
It also said the matter had been discussed with the public prosecutor’s office because it was a crime with international and social significance.
